In the early 1990's, Kate Dillon was a very young woman who suddenly found herself on big-time modeling's fast track. In 1991 she was a winner in the Elite Model Look competition. That put her on everybody's "up and coming" list. She began to get exposure in all the right magazines, and was billed as "the next Cindy Crawford.
But something was wrong. Kate realized that the crazy dieting regime she was using to maintain herself at a rail-thin size 6 (on a 5'10" frame!) was taking its toll (Kate wasn't naturally skinny; in fact she was called "Overweight Kate" in junior high). She started eating better and was actually getting healthier, but the modeling agencies didn't see it that way. Finally, one time when she was being criticized again for being "too fat," she realized "I don't have to do this." She quit modeling and went back to her native San Diego, California.
